On this auspicious day, Lord Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha swami is worshipped by over one lakh devotees from early morning.
Only on this day in the whole year, devotees can have the darshan of Lord Narasimha swami without the chandanam (sandal paste) layer on deity’s idol
On all other days of the year, Lord Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy will be completely covered with a layer of sandal paste.
The sandalwood paste covering the deity is removed at 4:00 am, and by 6:00 am, the prayers and abhisheka (ritual bath) are concluded.
Devotees are then permitted to enter the sanctum to see the original form of the deity’s idol.
Giri Pradakshina
Giri Pradakshina occurs on “Aashada Pournami,” typically in the month of June or July.
On this day, the deity is carried in a procession around the sacred simhachalam hills
Devotees walk around the Simhachalam temple hill, covering a distance of 34 kilometers, which takes approximately more than 9 hours to complete.
Those unable to walk around the Simhachalam temple hill satisfy themselves by taking 108 rounds within the temple itself
