The Kotilingeshwara Temple is located in the small village of Kammasandra in the Kolar district.

The temple is very popular due to the largest and tallest Shivalinga in Asia. Over 200,000 devotees visit the temple annually.

About Kotilingeshwara Temple

Koti‘ in Kannada translates to a crore, and Kotilingeshwara means 1 crore Shivalingas.

The temple has the world’s tallest Shivalinga along with over 90 lakhs of other Shivalingas installed in various sizes.

The main attractions are the 33-meter high Shivalinga and the 11-meter high Lord Nandi, the Bull.

The temple welcomes donations of Shivalingas in different sizes, and donors can have their name embedded on the installed Shivalinga.

Swami Sambha Shiva Murthy initiated and constructed the temple in 1980.
