Invasion
During the Muslim rulers’ invasion in South India, the main deity of Chidambaram, Sri Govindaraja Swamy, was temporarily relocated to Tirupati for safety.

Sri Ramanujacharya had a dream where Lord Govindaraja Swamy instructed him to arrange for His residence in Tirupati.
Already Aware of the deity’s temporary stay during the Muslim invasion, Sri Ramanujacharya, assisted by the king, visited the location from his dream.
To their surprise, they discovered the idol of Lord Govindaraja Swamy in that very place.
Sri Ramanujacharya advised the king to construct a temple for the Lord and houses for the people, who perform kainkaryam in the Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple.
